Be Proud. Be You.

Being proud of who you are and being yourself is important to Batavia Stad throughout the year, but during Pride month, Batavia Stad puts the LGBTQIA+ community in an extra spotlight. This year we are once again engaging in a European collaboration: nine artists from nine different countries are sharing their unique Pride story in a work of art. They do this in the form of puzzle pieces, which together form one large puzzle artwork.

Bas Kosters

For this exhibition we have chosen to collaborate with Bas Kosters. Especially for us he created an artistic work of art in the form of a puzzle piece called: “Courage among other things”. In the exhibition he takes you into his dream world and gives you an insight into his studio and work process.

“I am honored and pleased to participate in this great project taking a stand in an important way to show the right to be yourself. I have created a world that represent harmony and safety, a fantasy of which I hope could become a reality.”
